ifoundasound November 12th, 2009 by Nikolai

Working on version 2.0, Ifoundasound is seeing some big changes these days.
ifoundaCD will also have a makeover and be released at the same time, somewhere in the start of 2010. We hope by this to make it a more streamlined package.

Among the new features is better and extended use of embedded meta data like id3 and bwav (possible ixml) and more detailed search options.
You can now create several collections inside each archive, and link ifoundasound to the projects you are working on.
With the release of version 2.0 ifoundasound will for the first time come in two editions.
The standard version, which is free and much like the one available to day, and a professional edition priced at around 60$ with more advanced features.
A full feature matrix will follow, but the main difference between the two is that the free version is limited to 8000 sounds pr archive. Stay tuned for more details on the new features, we’ll keep this area up-to-date as development continues. Any suggestions and ideas are welcome in the forum.

this is good news, heres hoping that the sfx auto-naming is much more comprehensive than currently, i had problems naming some hollywood edge citi trax cd’s, and also more comprehensive database as many regularly used sfx libraries were not included in the download version i had.

    looking forward to it!

What about I found a video? It would be nice to have some thompson type software that pulls up videos and power points and scales them to an ouput resoulution.
Basiclly for my industry you are working on alot of stuff that almost would be awesome ,but it just has to be asembled.

    Hello Niko,
what a beautiful piece of software!
The only missing feature for me is the ability to make it really “portable”.
The goal would be to copy it in the root folder of an external HD or USBpen and
let it point to the audio content folder in the same device in order to distribute it
as a Catalog Browser for my original music catalog.
I work as a production music composer for TV networks and DVD releases and
i need to genre-mood tag my wavs in order to speed up the work of
    music editors..
    Cheers,
    Marco.

Hmmm, so you would need some kind of “relative path” feature ? that the files are not stored as “c:\sound.wav” but more like “[Programfolder]\sounds\sound.wav” I’ll think about how o do this.
There is no problem in running the program it self from a stick..
