ifoundaCD

IfoundaCD is a simple and easy CD ripper, made especially for ripping sound effects CDs.
Why does the world need another CD ripper? Well it doesn’t, but current freeware ripper quality is questionable, and they all seem to focus on ripping music CDs to mp3, and not pro audio.
IfoundaCD can rip to wav, any sample rate, any bit rate and it has some nice features for getting the filenames of your sounds right.

File formats and sound quality

IfoundaCD can rip to wav or mp3.
Wave files can be any sample rate or bit depth.
The tracks are extracted from the CD as 44,1Khz, 16 bit and ,if needed, converted using the r8brain, high quality sample rate converter from voxengo. See comparison here.
Mp3 files are converted using the LAME encoder, supporting bitrates of 128,192,256 and 320 kbs.

CD information

IfoundaCD can collect cd data information from freedb – one of the most common sources for CD information.
However, many sfx CDs’ descriptoions are not available at freedb, or are even wrong, so IfoundaCD has it’s own database of sfx CDs. Select the series (ex Sound Ideas, 6000) and the CD, (ex 6023) and the correct track names are loaded. More about this here.

In case your CD data is missing both from the freedb and our sfx database, ifoundaCD has some nice tools to edit raw text files.

Take a look at this quick tutorial. (Flash)
