I am trying to drive Waves' Vocal Rider Live by side-chaining it, but cannot, for the life of me, figure out how this works in LP. In my DAW I use the VST3 version, which has no problem, of course. In LP, I use the VST2 Version, which never shows me its side-chain input.
From http://www.cubase.net/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?p=951623&sid=9475f3204243ce070ff2e3d5935a37df I gather, that this is not impossible. I think this may be a negotiation issue between VST host and plugin.
Brainworx' dynEQ does not have this issue OTOH: it always shows four inputs, two of which are for the side-chain. |

Hi Side chain is pretty much up to the vst. I think the waves plugins only support side chain on vst3 plugins, the problem is that LiveProfessor does not support vst3. This will not be added until the next major relase (v 2) I'm sorry that I can't help you futher. |

What I was getting at is this: there is currently no way to specify the number of host channels that are passed into the VST during construction--neither globally (e.g., you can't run the professor in Mono or 5.1) nor specifically for a plugin. Compare this to Bedule, where you can select the number of inputs and outputs for VSTs that support this.
This matters, because the trick with many side-chaining VST2 implementations is to instantiate them on a bus with twice the number of channels (e.g., four channels for a stereo processor) and then the upper two channels become the side-chaining inputs. |
