It would be nice to have the ability to add/leave the track numbers of files when using the batch renamer. Is it possible to add this feature?
Also it would be a good thing to insert the filesnames (without the suffix) to the BWF description field.

Hi Nikolai,
you should really consider my suggestion of putting the track names of SXF CD's into the BWF desciption field. Let me explain. I found a problem with the maximum filename lenght und windows. I guess you know this already but the filename (incl. path+name) can only have 255 characters. So when i want to rip some CD's using the names of the ifoundaCD database i often have the problem that it is impossible to rip because of the too long filenames. Sometime i can trick windows by setting the ripping folder to the root of the harddrive...but the problems are coming later on when i try to move these files and open them in a wave editor like wavelab 6 etc.
So...here my suggestion for solving this problem. Make the filenames for ripped files much shorter (maybe track number + album name only) and put the filenames available from the online database into the BWF description field (which, i assume, can take much more characters).
This way "ifoundasound" can look into the BWF description field and converts it into searchable comments....like it already does.

Hi I've been thinking about the bwf-option since way back. It would be a great feature. If I figure out how to do it, I will put it in around the same time as the new release of ifoundasound. since that update changes the bwav and id3 tag behaviour a bit.
as for the 256 character issue, I've never had that problem, but your solution seems to be the best. Only I think the filnames should still say soething about the sound, just a shorter description. Filenames like "sfx03472.wav" are hard to work with. Anyway, I'll try to put in the bwf feature asap. thanks |
